What do you see
When you look at me
You might know me personally
Or just as a voice on your CD
Or an mp3
You think my life's defined by delivery
Some make that mistake instantly
Do you think I'd accept a definition that limits me
And allow my life to be filled with misery
I am not my job and neither are you
I love my life and believe me it's true
You could judge me for my weaknesses
You could love me for how sweet this is
You could tell me I'm ugly and how weak this is
Or you could just hug me and be free with this

chorus: Look at me, what do you see

When you look at me
You could see
An ugly child
With a funny smile
Or you could see me run the miles
While
Seeing beyond the artificial
And ignoring the whistle
Because I've developed my own rules
You can see someone who's overachieved and owned school
You can see someone who's underachieved as a known fool
I started college at 16 and finished at 23
Do the years in between diminish just what I see
Was I a prodigy
Should I have received college free
Should Miami acknowledge me
Or bury my existence
In statistics
And call me average
So they can ignore that I have this
Education
I'm wasting
Or do they realize
That they should feel wise
Because I couldn't even ask the questions
If I hadn't attended the lessons
It all depends on who you ask
And how the task
Distorts their perceptions
When they give the answers to your questions
You may see me as a pizza boy who makes music on the side
Blinded by my pride
Or many other factors
Or you could accept that I'm a rapper
Who lives life through laughter
Because I know what I'm after
Love and happiness
With a happy miss
That I've yet to find
But in my mind
I'm exactly who and where I want to be
I'm single and I'm glad that I'm free
Because I want someone else who loves me for me

chorus:

I have no insecurities
Because I can purely see
Everything someone else might think is a flaw
But I don't see what they saw
Sometimes I'm in awe
Sometimes I can't believe what I have
Will you perceive that I'm mad
Or will you receive what I hand
To you with no demands
Just words to think about
When you're feeling down and out
There's always plenty of doubt
Going on
Plenty of people who try to show you wrong
Maybe it's because they don't feel right
So they pass on the fright
Sometimes when you feel
Like you're spinning your wheels
You need to turn it off
Go for a walk
Take it soft
Have a long talk
With your best friend
Don't let the time you spend
End
Just because you're not moving
You need to get back in the groove and
Take a look at what's right
In your life
And muster up the might
For your fight
Or reduce the need to fight in the first place
It's not worth runnig the worst race
Don't worry if you hurt face
Because it's how you look at yourself that really matters
Was it really your dreams that have been shattered
And left in tatters
Or did someone else put you down that road
Write your next episode
And carry your own load
Then you can help your friends
To do the same
I can't tell you if life's a game
But if it is, winning shouldn't be the goal
It's about what you feel in your soul
When I was 15, I felt old
Now I'm twice that age and I feel like a kid again
Because I don't play to win
I just stay and grin
Success isn't measured by dollar signs
Freedom isn't found with a collared mind
Other people's perceptions don't bother mine
And I'm unafraid of father time
Because mother nurture this nature
And I want to return the favor
By passing on what I've learned
Leaving passion on 'til it burns
Increasing my pleasure threshold
And I'll never let go
So just know
I'm not trying to tell you how to live your life
I just want it all to feel so right
That's why I let it all out when I write
So I can learn about myself and pass the knowledge on to you
And know it's true
We can all make a difference
We're all gifted
Sometimes I do the lifting
And sometimes my friends lift me up
Sometimes it spilleth over and sometimes I drop the cup
Either way I mop it up
Or let it be
Because it's still my life and I'm still me
And I want you to feel free
Want you to feel free
You to feel free
Feel free
Feel free
